During 2011 the Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDT) started a process of downscaling the RED Door Programme. This entailed closing seven of the twelve centres culminating with the closure of the remaining five on 31 March 2012 thereby discontinuing the entire RED Door programme and concept.
In the light of this, a decision was taken in conjunction with DEDT to close the doors of the Centres to the public on 7 February 2012 to facilitate the logistics of moving assets and restoring the leased premises to landlords by 31 March as this is when the leases expire. Notices have been placed at the Centres informing the public of the closure.
